Life before joining Farm Owners Academy

For Lloyd and Harriet, farming in the stunning but remote Lavericks Bay on Banks Peninsula was beginning to lose its shine.

After enduring their worst drought on record, followed by the worst flood in living memory, they were physically and emotionally drained.

“We were just going through the motions,” says Harriet. “No joy in farming. No joy in living here. It was affecting all parts of our life.”

Despite running a successful sheep, cattle, and tourism business, they felt stuck in survival mode. There was no clear path forward, no plan, and no energy to change it.
